Shipping from Canada to US

Canada, 13th October 2020: Canada’s leading eCommerce shipping & fulfillment provider, eShipper, is pleased to announce a partnership with Pitney Bowes, a global technology company that provides commerce solutions to areas of ecommerce, shipping, mailing and financial services. Pitney Bowes and eShipper have partnered to create a highly intelligent Cross Border Service called “PBX” aimed to power high volume shipping across the border through intuitive technology. This will enable Canadian users to significantly minimize delays, undeliverable shipments, and shipping costs for all of their shipping to the USA, and lift restrictions on shipping FDA registered products across the border. The service is fully integrated with the eShipper platform, and gives customers highly competitive pricing on cross-border shipping.

“Our mutual goal is to help Canadian merchants and fulfillment centres automate their cross border shipping in order to reduce the risk for human error.”

According to a study by Pitney Bowes, a company that powers over a billion transactions in 100+ countries all over the world, 27 million parcels will be shipped from Canada to the USA by the end of this year alone. The initial partnership began when the two companies were looking for a trustworthy partner to create a reliable, cost effective and technologically-powered cross border service. Our mutual goal is to help Canadian merchants and fulfillment centres automate their cross border shipping in order to reduce the risk for human error.

Until today, standard practice for most Canadian businesses in the GTA is to induct their shipments into Buffalo, then ship to their customers no matter where they live across the US. With tens of thousands of shipments going to Buffalo each day, delays are imminent, especially during peak times such as the COVID-19 lockdown as we’ve witnessed, as well as the upcoming Black Friday and holiday seasons. Not only are delays inevitable, so are higher shipping costs. When delivering to customers in California for example, shipping from a hub across the country in Buffalo is going to inevitably increase rates.

Instead of inducting shipments into an already crowded hub, eShipper’s PBX will utilize Pitney Bowes own 450,000 square foot Fulfillment, Delivery and Returns Super Center, centrally located in Indiana. Pitney Bowes leverages cutting-edge technology to automate parcel sortation and enable deliveries powered through robotics. The technology will decide intelligently where shipments should be inducted depending on the zip code of the end customer. Once packages leave, they are efficiently routed through our distribution networks to their final destinations via USPS. As demand increases for the cross border service, eShipper plans to branch out fulfillment into Pitney Bowes other hubs located in the East and West Coast.

“eShipper is currently the only online shipping platform in Canada partnered with every tier 1 carrier, including USPS.”

Gregg Zegras, EVP and President Global Ecommerce, Pitney Bowes said, “Ecommerce businesses are shipping phenomenal volumes, challenged with meeting rising consumer expectations while driving down costs. Our partnership with eShipper enables Canadian merchants shipping to the US to delight customers and maximize profitability, so they can tap into exciting new opportunities in this vital market”.

Through Pitney Bowes, eShipper’s new PBX Service will enable users to save on shipping and minimize delays. eShipper is currently the only online shipping platform in Canada partnered with every tier 1 carrier, including USPS. This gives us a major advantage over other industry players by enabling us to leverage highly competitive USPS rates for the last leg of delivery.

“Major benefits of PBX Service include capabilities to ship FDA products under section 321, extremely competitive rates for USPS for both heavy and light parcels, and minimized returns.”

Unlike competitor cross border programs that specialize in just one service level, eShipper gives users the flexibility to choose from either Select Parcel service, with 3-7 days transit time, or First Class mail with guaranteed 3 days transit time. Users can decide on cost vs. speed, although both service levels offer incredible savings compared to the standard service available today.

Major benefits of PBX Service include capabilities to ship FDA products under section 321, extremely competitive rates for USPS for both heavy and light parcels, and minimized returns. Through Pitney Bowes intelligent software, wrong addresses are corrected intuitively in their system before shipping out, exponentially reducing the risk of undeliverable shipments. All returns will come to eShipper’s US hub in Florida to be consolidated and sorted before being shipped back to our hub in Canada, unless the merchant chooses to re-ship to another address or destroy the product.

“The logistics world is one of the most dynamic industries and over the past 35 years I have seen vast changes in the business especially with how much technology has improved processes. I am a true believer that technology, outside the box thinking and most importantly a good partner is the secret to being the leader in the market. We at eShipper are thrilled to have Pitney Bowes as our partner for our e-Commerce solution to the USA. The relationship will allow eShipper customers access to reliable services in North America and beyond.” said Rizwan Kermalli, CEO, eShipper

Today, eShipper’s infrastructure enables free pickups from facilities in specific locations within the GTA, while drop offs are available to the eShipper hub, allowing businesses outside of these pickup locations to utilize the service. In the next 6 months, eShipper plans to expand across the country in Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton, where coast to coast service will be available with multiple entry points into the US.

PBX launches within the GTA today. Businesses can apply by filling out an application, after which they will be put in touch with an Account Manager to vet them for the service. Businesses outside of the GTA will be notified once this cross border Service becomes available in their location
